Outdoor Education
John Paul College offers a comprehensive Outdoor Education program aimed at fostering students’ personal development, teamwork, and appreciation for the natural environment. The program includes various camps and activities tailored to different year levels.
Outdoor Education Camps
Year 9 Camp at Lake Douglas: Students participate in activities such as bushwalking, navigation, cooking, and team-building exercises to enhance resilience and collaboration skills.
Year 10 Camp in Esperance: Students engage in camping, swimming, surfing, and adventure activities. Prior to the camp, students undergo snorkeling lessons at the Goldfields Oasis to prepare for open-water activities.
Year 11 and 12 Outdoor Camps: These camps focus on leadership development and advanced outdoor skills, providing students with opportunities to mentor younger peers and take on responsibilities in planning and executing camp activities. Previous expeditions have taken place at Woody Island in Esperance, Karijini National Park, and the Stirling Ranges in Porongurup. This year, Year 11 and 12 students will be attending Margaret River and participating in abseiling, mountain biking, caving, hiking, and nature-based camp activities.
Through these Outdoor Education programs, JPC aims to cultivate essential life skills such as decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and relationship development among students.
