Christian Service Learning
At John Paul College, Christian Service Learning (CSL) is a core part of our educational approach, blending faith, service, and learning to shape compassionate, responsible, and reflective students. Grounded in the teachings of Christ, CSL provides students with the opportunity to actively live out their faith through service, while deepening their understanding of social responsibility.
Our CSL Goals:
- Faith in Action: Students apply Christian values, such as compassion and justice, through service to others, connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences.
- Holistic Growth: CSL encourages intellectual, moral, and spiritual growth, fostering empathy, humility, and the desire to make a positive impact.
- Community Involvement: Students engage with the community, developing a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to serving others.
- Personal Reflection: Reflection on service experiences helps students internalise the lessons learned, promoting spiritual and personal development.
How CSL Works at JPC:
- CSL is an essential part of our students’ educational journey. Currently, Year 11 and 12 students participate in the program, receiving a CSL Booklet from the Faith & Liturgy Coordinator, which they complete over the two years. This booklet provides an opportunity for students to record and reflect on their commitment to living out Christian values through service to others.
Expanding CSL across the College:
- We are excited to announce plans to expand the CSL program to include students in Years 7 to 10. By broadening the program, we aim to provide more opportunities for younger students to get involved in service and deepen their connection to the community. Additionally, we are working towards extending CSL involvement in our broader Goldfields community, strengthening our impact and engagement beyond the school.
Other Service Opportunities at JPC:
- While CSL provides a structured pathway for service, there are also numerous service opportunities available for all students at John Paul College. Students can participate in various volunteer activities such as helping at the JPC Breakfast Club, contributing to charity events, and supporting school-run initiatives. These activities may not be directly connected to the CSL program but still reflect the school’s commitment to fostering a spirit of service, compassion, and community.
